Put them to good use by donating them to the Rotary Club of Boksburg’s Christmas Market and Carols by Candlelight event.

The Rotary Club of Boksburg, in partnership with the Birchwood Hotel and East Rand Stereo, is hosting this festive two-day event on December 16 and 17, from 11am to 9pm each day (entertainment will run until 11pm).

All the proceeds raised at the market will go towards Rotary’s ‘School Bags for All’ project.

President-elect Derek Fox said: “Rotary Club of Boksburg’s current president Noel Wauchope and I realised that many children carry their books to school in plastic bags or whatever they can find to serve the purpose.“It became clear to us all school children need a school bag and so we decided to do something about it. It’s our first market and carols event and we’re very excited.”

Attendees can look forward to open mic sessions, the Christmas market, live entertainment, a beer tent, children’s activities and much more.

Entrance fee for adults is R20 and children under the age of 12 get in free.

East Rand Stereo will be broadcasting live from the event.
