You need not give your house an expensive re-vamp
Ever since shows such as Changing Rooms and 60 Minute Makeover burst on to the TV scene, we’ve been aware of how small tweaks can make a big difference.
These shows taught us how bit of MDF and some stencilling can go a long way to make your house feel more like a home .
But adding value to your house – surely that’s the sort of thing that requires an expensive re-vamp, right?
According to Victoria Gimson, Design Director and founder of Decorum Interior Design, there is one simple adjustment you can make which could potentially add thousands to your home.
Victoria revealed how incorporating ivory into your colour scheme could up your house’s value.
This tip was also echoed by My Domaine , who pointed out how, unlike saturated colors, ivory will never go out of fashion and is totally fool-proof.
By using ivory widely throughout your home, Victoria also explains you could sell your home a lot quicker as potential buyers are more inclined to believe the property has recently been decorated and is well-maintained.
“Ivory acts as a blank canvas to furniture, artwork and accessories and automatically creates a feeling of space so buyers will feel as though they are getting more for their money,” Victoria says.
Of course, you don’t need paint everything ivory – it can be used along with richer, deeper colours to a beautiful effect.
“Try white walls with a velvet sofa in a rich, jewel like shade such as indigo,” she added.
“This will act as an anchor to the room and also means that you don’t need to feel precious about sitting on the sofa or spilling drinks.
“A lick of fresh ivory paint is a minimal investment in time and money that could potentially increase sales figures by thousands.”
